On the edge of the Mediterranean, the Languedoc mountains break up
the blue of the sea and sky with a welcome touch of green.

It doesn't take long to get a complete change of atmosphere, from the seaside one minute to Languedoc’s mountainous areas the next.
Here, the sometimes steep landscapes rise to over 1000 m, offering a myriad of views just waiting for you to enjoy. From the foothills of the Cévennes to the East, to the forests of the Haut-Languedoc Natural Park to the West, it's a true walker’s paradise.

The landscapes and atmosphere change as you climb. Pine forests, peat bogs and moorland give way to a succession of copses of broad-leafed trees,
chestnuts and Holm oaks.

Trickling streams become torrents, hurtling along
rocky ridges or creating lush, green
vertiginous gorges as they go.

But the mountains of Languedoc are also
home to gastronomy.

Here, the good life means the rich, incomparable diversity of the local and regional produce. Combining a strong Mediterranean influence with rustic mountain flavours, this is a heaven on earth for foodies. Charcuterie, fruit, game, mushrooms, freshwater fish, cheeses, etc. – nowhere is nature’s
bounty so amply illustrated.

Accompanied by one of Languedoc's great wines, this wonderful combination of savours is sure to be the perfect end to a day’s walking, cycling or hiking.
